About Johanna

Johanna McCarthy (M Prof Psych, BA Psych (Hons)) is a passionate and dedicated psychologist who values each individual with respect, warmth, and acceptance. She provides a non-judgemental and compassionate approach to therapy, ensuring that every client feels heard, understood and supported. Johanna is committed to helping clients live fulfilling and meaningful lives, working through challenges and obstacles with empathy and care.

With experience working with adults, adolescents and children, Johanna is committed to utilising evidence-based interventions and a client-centred approach, tailored to each person’s unique needs. She understands that seeking therapy can be a daunting process and strives to create a safe, welcoming environment where clients can openly explore their thoughts and feelings.

Johanna is continually seeking to expand and refine her therapeutic skills through regular supervision, training opportunities, and staying current with the latest research. She is proficient in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness approaches. Johanna deeply values the collaborative process, working alongside clients to explore their concerns and life challenges, and providing support on their journey toward mental wellness. She aspires to empower clients to overcome obstacles, develop resilience and achieve a greater sense of wellbeing and fulfilment.
